Scrub Away the Mondays... Palmer's® Cocoa Butter Formula Gentle Exfoliating Facial Scrub

This week, I'm sharing with you the third entry in my Scrub Away the Mondays series. A little over a year ago, Palmer's released their new facial product line, including cleaners, an exfoliater, moisturizers, an eye cream, a mask, and a serum.  During the product line's release, Palmer's hosted several Facebook & Twitter giveaways. I won a Palmer's tote full of their products during one of their giveaways.  So this week, I'm sharing with you the Palmer's® Cocoa Butter Formula Gentle Exfoliating Facial Scrub.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula is product I grew up with. So the release of the facial line was greeted with great anticipation.  Most will say that exfoliating is a key part to any healthy skin care regimen, but there are many different exfoliaters out there. The reputation behind the Palmer's brand made it easy for me to want to try this product. 

Product Claims: 

• Palmer's® Cocoa Butter Formula Gentle Exfoliating Facial Scrub promises to exfoliate, refine and polish.
• It contains Vitamin E which acts as an antioxidant.
• Also contains Evening Primerose which helps to sooth stressed skin.
• The milk proteins claim to help improve skin's texture and tone.

My Experiences: 

• The scent, is soft. It's not the normal cocoa butter scent of some of their core products.  It has a "fresh white lily" scent with a bit of the cocoa

• The consistency is on the creamy side, but some settling may occur so shake the tube before using.
• The cocoa butter granules are varied in size.  Some with sensitive skin may need to massage with care. The particles are varying in size and texture.
• As recommended, while not gentle enough for daily use, I did us this every other day and experienced no irritation.
• My skin texture issues are rough patches on my cheeks, chin and on my nose.  This product left my skin soft, smooth, and moisturized.
• Readily available.

So the question is would I recommend this product to anyone? Yes.

NOTD: Revisiting Orly Cotton Candy & China Glaze Medallion

For quite a while I have had a color combination in my head, and I'm finally getting around to showcasing it-Pink and gold. For some reason, I have wanted to combine these two polishes in a manicure.  So to participate in Pink Wednesday, here is Orly Cotton Candy (revisited) with a China Glaze Medallion accent.  

Orly Cotton Candy was part of the 2010 Spring Sweet Collection that included other lovelies such as Snowcone, Pixy Stix, Lemonade, Lollipop, and Gumdrop. While China Glaze Medallion as part of 2009 collection in which China Glaze released 50 new glitters.  It is absolutely gorgeous and probably the most glittery glitter I've seen.  It is a mid-tone gold with multi-sized, multi-colored, holographic shimmer suspended in a clear base. While China Glaze has since released several other gold glitters, in my opinion, none are comparable. I need to get a backup of Medallion.

·Opacity: Orly-2 coats for bottle color; China Glaze-3 coats for dense coverage

·Availability: both Orly & China Glaze can be found at Ulta, and Sally Beauty. However, Medallion can only be found through the online retailers now.
·Application: Orly-The first coat was kinda of watery & streaky, but the second coat smooth out the finish. China Glaze-since this has a clear base, it took 3 coats to get a dense coverage.

Scrub Away the Mondays...Queen Helene Pomegranate & Raspberry

Last week I started a new series on facial scrubs called Scrub Away the Mondays. Well today I have my second scrub in the series. Last week's product was a scrub gentle enough for daily use; however this week's scrub although not recommended for daily use, is absolutely one of my favorites. Of all the scrubs I've tried to date, easily one of my Top 3.  This week I'm sharing with you the Queen Helene Refining Pomegranate & Raspberry Natural Facial Scrub.

There is a department store scrub that I had been using but I was looking for a drugstore scrub that was not so cost prohibitive. I first found this product while shopping in my local Sally Beauty Supply.  I had been a user of the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque for several years so when I saw this I decided to give it a try. 


Product Claims: 

• For All Skin Types
• Washes away lifeless surface cells and impurities that dull your skin
• Contains Pomegranate Oil for added antioxidant protection against the environment's skin-aging effects
• The Raspberry seeds work to gently expose fresher, more vibrant skin with renewed radiance
• Paraben-free scrub effectively refines skin's texture and conditions it to maintain a vital moisture balance, which leaves your face feeling wonderfully soft and smooth

My Experiences: 

• First off, the scent, it's nice, but if I had not seen the label, I don't know that I would recognize it as raspberry or pomegranate
• While I don't have sensitive skin, and therefore had no negative reaction, I would be cautious if I did have sensitive skin. There is a definite tingling sensation when using this product. It gives me the notion that in addition to the physical exfoliation that there is some sort of chemical exfoliation taking place.
• With that being said, I love the feel of the exfoliation. It is not as harsh as some other scrubs I have tried. The granules are not sharp or abrasive, but definitely apparent.
• My skin texture issues are rough patches on my cheeks, chin and on my nose.  This product left my skin soft, smooth, and brightened.
• I use this product twice weekly and have had no adverse effects.
• The price is excellent

So the question is would I recommend this product to anyone and would I repurchase it? A definite Yes.
