Blue Monday: $OPI-Naughty is the New Nice

I have seen several other bloggers do "Blue Monday" posts, so I decided to make this my first Blue Monday post. I was in Sephora this past weekend with no intention to buy any nail polish. While I do own a couple Sephora by OPI polishes, I have never been smitten by the line.  But of course, I was going to at least take a look, and why did I do that?! I saw at least a few from the 2011 Holiday Collection that caught my eye.  Results: I purchased two new blues. So today,  I present to you Sephora by OPI-Naugthy is the New Nice.  It is a beautiful powder blue foil. The Sephora website describes it as an opaque Ice Blue with fine silver glitter. Ice Blue is a good descriptive, but in my opinion it is definitely more of a foil than a glitter.  Foils are currently trending. Color Club recently introduced a set, that includes a similar polish, Lumin-Icent.

This is one of those manicures that I couldn't help but to constantly look at throughout the day, especially under the lighting at my church (if you have followed my blog, you already know about the issues I have with nail polish and church, LOL!!)  I have previously mentioned how much I love dark blues, but this light blue ranks right up there with the dark blues.  I need to add more foil polishes to my collection.

Review:

NEW:::Look Frighteningly Fashionable with OPI!

No Tricks, Just Treats with New OPI
Halloween Nail Lacquers

Celebrate the scariest day of the year with OPI’s Halloween-inspired nail lacquers, available in two promotional gifts sets. For a limited time only, OPI will offer the new Spook-ettes mini pack, which includes four mini lacquers: He’s My Boo (a scary orange), Mummy Knows Best (a spook-tacular white), I Only Date Werewolves (a bewitching black) and Zom-Body to Love (a glow-in-the-dark green).

The Spook-ettes mini pack also includes free nail decals, along with instructions on how to create different nail art designs using the lacquers and stickers. For example, create a two-toned look with “Jack-in-the-Moon,” featuring a grinning face in a white full moon on a black nail, or go bold with “Welcome to Spider’s Corner,” showcasing a creepy-crawler layered over a bright orange hue.

Additionally, the Pair’em Scare’em duo pack will bring Zom-Body to Love and OPI’s bestselling Black Shatter together in a hair-raising pair. Inspired by graffiti art, Shatter leaves behind a crackled, two-texture finish when painted over completely dry OPI nail lacquer. Paint Shatter over two coats of Zom-Body to Love and add a top coat for a one-of-a-kind, glow-in-the-dark manicure.
“Halloween motivates us to express wild, imaginative concepts through hair, makeup, nails and costumes,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “The Spook-ettes and Pair’em Scare’em lacquers allow consumers to get fun and creative with our Halloween colors by pairing them with themed nail decals or adding the captivating shatter effect.”

My 1st Real Attempts at Nail Art...

When I first started my blog, I said that I was not big on nail art, but over time my tastes have changed. I am slowing getting into dots and stripes. It's not like I never liked nail art. Years ago when I used to get my nails professionally done, I would get nail art, especially drag art, but as my career progressed, I sort of turned away from the extremes. Now at most, I do an accent nail. Now that I am doing my nails myself, I am starting to experiment with some nail art, but still nothing too extreme. When I first starting blogging, I came across several fellow bloggers, who excel in nail art and make it look so easy. Note to all, looks can be deceiving. It ain't so easy, LOL! But thanks to the following bloggers for their dedication and inspiration:
Now, on to some of my first attempts.

Here is my version of Another Bottle of Polish's Dot art. Again, I am doing just an accent nail.

Another picture of some nail art I came across was on Become Gorgeous.com.  I thought that it looks do-able.
Showing slightly blurred, to better show the holo glitter.

One other blogger whose work I have admired is Colette of My Simple Little Pleasures.  While, I have yet to try the water marble, she has a drag art video that I have liked for quite some time. My Simple Little Pleasures (Video).  This is going to be one I need to practice more, LOL! Since it didn't work, I layered it with China Glaze Electric Lilac.

Polishes used...
Next, I need to get my hands on a few gems, decals and rhinestones, LOL!!!

Note: please excuse the dry cuticles, it happens with swatching. I have now moisturized and they are back to normal.

Remember, treat your nails as jewels, not tools.  Grace, Peace, and Blessings.

NOTD: OPI Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow

With every new manicure, I am continually surprised at how much my tastes have changed. Two years ago, if someone had offered me any green nail polish, I would have politely said, "No Thank You", and to myself thought, "Ewww", LOL! But WOW how times have changed; I actually purchased this one myself. Today, I am posting another shade that has been blogged about by many others. OPI Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow. It is part of OPI's 2009 España Collection.  This is a very dark green, with a slight shimmer, that appears like a black cream. OPI's 2009 España Collection was a really good collection. I own 5 of the 12 from this collection and there are a couple more that I want.  Several from this collection can now be found as part of the OPI permanent collection, so they can be found at Ulta and Trade Secret and most can still be found through the e-tailers.  For those who haven't tried, OPI Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow, you really need to step outside your comfort zone and give it a try. It's a good one that should be in your personal collection.
