Salon Perfect First Look Fall Polish Forecast, 2013-Swatches-Part 1

It's days like today, with a heat index of 105 degrees, that makes me super anxious for cooler months. Not only because of the cooler temperatures, but I really love the colors of Fall. And the nail polish makers are going strong with the Fall collections. I was recently sent half of the newest Salon Perfect First Look Fall Polish Forecast Collection, for review. And after seeing the collection in person, I purchased the other half.  In addition to the newest 11 shades, this collection includes a matte top coat, Matte FX, so that actually doubles the number of manicures you can achieve from this collection :)

Salon Perfect: Sweet Melon, Pink Mystique, & a reminder...

Today's manicures are from a brand I have blogged about recently. Today I am sharing with you two more from the Salon Perfect brand. I really wanted to share these with you because my most recent blog post on Salon Perfect was about a giveaway. So I wanted to allow you another look at some of the Salon Perfect polishes.  These are two more that I purchased during the Walmart trip I discussed in my April 24th post.

First, I have Salon Perfect Sweet Melon. That name is a good fit. Sweet Melon is a pinky-melon cream-jelly-"Crelly", as my nail blogger friend, Rhonda of Nails Beautiqued has coined this finish.  I was able to obtain a fully opaque application with 2 coats. The formulation was smooth and had an almost self-leveling ability. This is a great summer color without being too bold.

Next, I have Salon Perfect Pink Mystique.  As I have mentioned in a previous post, many of the Salon Perfect nail lacquers are very similar to the China Glaze nail lacquers. Well Salon Perfect Pink Mystique is very similar to China Glaze Strawberry Fields. This polish is a berry pink with a gold glass flecks. I love this shade and definitely say that if you missed out on Strawberry Fields, get this one.  Here I'm showing it with 2 coats, but probably should have went for 3.

Finally, as a reminder, I'm hosting a Salon Perfect Giveaway (ending 5/12/2013 at 12:00AM EST). One person will win these 8 bottles of Salon Perfect Nail Lacquer.  I chose 8 shades that were very similar to popular China Glaze shades.  If you missed out on my blog post explaining the details to the giveaway and how to enter, please click HERE.

Again, I thank my PR contact for Salon Perfect for providing the polishes for the giveaway.

Salon Perfect is a Walmart exclusive brand so be certain to take a look the next time you are in your local Walmart. These are some really great polishes and I look forward to adding others to my collection.

Grace, Peace, & Blessings.

My 1st GIVEAWAY: Salon Perfect Nail Lacquers

Well the time has come to do my first giveaway. If you follow my blog or follow me on YouTube, Twitter, or Instagram you know that recently I found a new display of Salon Perfect nail lacquers at my local Walmart. I explained that when I was looking at the polishes I saw tons of China Glaze dupes.  Being that I have reviewed both China Glaze and Salon Perfect polishes, I knew that they were both manufactured by American International Industries (AII).  Seeing this new display and so many dupes of the China Glaze polishes lead me to ask some questions. So I reached out to my contact with their public relations firm.  I mentioned that I was thinking about doing a giveaway.  Not only was she nice enough to give me a call to answer my questions, she was also gracious enough to offer to supply me with several polishes for my giveaway.

Some points about Salon Perfect:

  • Salon Perfect is a Walmart exclusive.
  • Salon Perfect has a core collection of over 50 shades that are available year round. Display sizes may vary between Walmarts.
  • Salon Perfect will also release seasonal collections.
  • Salon Perfect is not an exact dupe of the China Glaze line. China Glaze is a professional line that contains China Clay (a hardener), whereas, Salon Perfect does not have that additive. There is a slight difference in the formulation. You will be able to make your own decision with the comparison pictures I've posted below.
  • Salon Perfect retails for $3.98 for a 0.5 fl oz bottle.
  • Brush heads are very similar. This is my own observation.
So what is the Giveaway? When I was looking at the Salon Perfect display, I was naming the China Glaze dupes, so the winner of this giveaway will receive 8 Salon Perfect Nail Lacquers, that I thought were very similar to 8 of the most popular China Glaze line.

The winner will receive a bottle of Salon Perfect's He's With Me, Ocean Treasure, Berry Nice, Faux Glow, After Midnight, Pure Azure, Light My Fire, and Purple Passion.

Just so you can see what I'm seeing, here are the Salon Perfect shades compared to my China Glaze shades.

Here Comes The Sun...Salon Perfect Orange A-Peel

Living in Florida, I know a thing or two about Oranges. And today's Salon Perfect Orange A-Peel is like an orange in a bottle.  On a recent trip to Walmart, I found the revamped Salon Perfect collection.  I was already familiar with the brand.  I reviewed the line last year when they released their Spring collection.  But they have recently revamped their bottle as well as their line.  I will go into more detail with a later post, as I have a giveaway in the works.
But for today, I'm sharing with you one of my recent purchases, Orange A-Peel.  This is a bright, just short of neon orange. It dries to a satin matte finish.

Here I am wearing 2 coats with no top coat. The first coat went on a bit streaky but leveled off with the 2nd coat. I really like the Salon Perfect product line and look forward to additions to the collection.  They have creams, glitters, neons, and many other fashion colors; many of which will look very similar to a professional brand you are probably very familiar with...hint, hint...

Salon Perfect is exclusive to Walmart and sells for $3.98 for 0.5 fl oz bottle. There are currently over 60 shades in the collection.
Salon Perfect Orange A-Peel is just an excellent Summer shade and would look great against all tan skintones. So go get you pedicure and pull out your favorite sandals. What are some of your favorite Summer shades?

Grace, Peace, & Blessings.

Salon Perfect 2012 Spring Collection Swatches Pt. 2

Here is part 2 of the Salon Perfect collection.  If you missed part 1, it can be seen here, Salon Perfect Pt 1.

Where as part 1 were more bright colors, part 2 are more pastels. Again, this collection is made up of 14 polishes. There are a couple shimmers, but most are cremes.
The second half consists of:
  • Perfectly Peach – Delicate peach
  • Lemon Zing – Sunny yellow
  • Kiwi Lime – Vibrant green
  • Blue Mint – Cheerful mint
  • Berry Blue – Classic periwinkle
  • Purple Sorbet – Dark lilac
  • Lavender Icing – Soft lilac

Review:
As for the formulation of each polish it was as follows:
  • Perfectly Peach – opaque cream, but very streaky
  • Lemon Zing – cream finish, but streaky
  • Kiwi Lime – very sheer so 3 coats would be necessary
  • Blue Mint – streaky, a blue mint green
  • Berry Blue – very sheer
  • Purple Sorbet – sheer
  • Lavender Icing – OMG! This is a one-coater.
So again, I suggest that you give this collection a look. The colors are great. The price is easy, but the availability will be limited.

The collection will be available in approximately 1,700 Walmart locations nationwide during the month of May for $2.98.  So if you get the chance to try the new Salon Perfect Spring/Summer Collection act fast. They are only scheduled to be in a few Walmarts for the month of May.

Salon Perfect 2012 Spring Collection Swatches Pt. 1

Back in April, it was announced that the brow people, Salon Perfect, would be releasing a limited edition Spring/Summer Collection of nail polish to be sold in Walmart during the month of May, 2012.  I was fortunate enough to get the chance to sample the line.  The collection is made up of 14 polishes. There are a couple shimmers, but most are cremes.
The first half consists of:
  • Spicy Tomato – Juicy red
  • Tangy Tangerine – Tart orange
  • Sour Apples – True blue-green
  • Blue Raspberry – Vivid azure
  • Plum Sorbet – Magenta with purple shimmer
  • Berry Pink – Bold flamingo pink
  • Bubblegum – Honeysuckle pink

  • Review:
When I first heard of this line, I had no expectations. For me, Salon Perfect were the Lash people and that's all. So when I received the collection for review, I was pleasantly surprised. Although the colors are not out of the ordinary, the collection covers the gamut of colors needed for both Spring and Summer trends.

After the colors, the next thing I looked at was the brush, I normally don't like short handles, but this brush head was easy to work with.  I was pretty much able to polish with little or no clean up due to the "workability" of the brush.

As for the formulation of each polish it was as follows:
    • Spicy Tomato – a red-orange jelly finish
    • Tangy Tangerine - an orange-coral, jelly finish
    • Sour Apples - more green than swatched, streaky, opaque cream
    • Blue Raspberry - dusty teal opaque cream
    • Plum Sorbet - purple with pink shimmer
    • Berry Pink - hot pink with pink shimmer (very faint shimmer)
    • Bubblegum - light pink with shear pink shimmer
I think that this collection is great for someone starting a polish collection or someone wanting to step outside their comfort zone and try different polish colors.  Based on these swatches, in the future, I will stop and give Salon Perfect a serious look next time I see them in the stores.

The collection will be available in approximately 1,700 Walmart locations nationwide during the month of May for $2.98.  So if you get the chance to try the new Salon Perfect Spring/Summer Collection act fast. They are only scheduled to be in a few Walmarts for the month of May.
    Grace, Peace, & Blessings.
