Ever since their brand revamp, FingerPaints has really been releasing some gorgeous polishes. So of course when I received the offer to review their latest Enchanted Mermaid collection, I was excited to give it a try. The press release described it as below:
"FingerPaints Enchanted Mermaid Collection is a LIMITED EDITION underworld inspired textured nail collection with 4 sailor-seducing shades. You will fall victim to the temptress effect of this innovative nail collection! The alluring fish scale texture is available in multi-tone shades that shimmer and shift like the friendly underwater creatures. After 2-3 coats you will see the full effect morph! This collection is so unique and eye-catching you are sure to be enchanted!"
I also really like textured nail polishes so again, I was anxious to give this collection a try. I will admit that I wasn't expecting this type of texture. There is another national brand that had a recent collection called Crinkled Chrome and from the swatches I saw, I had no desire to purchase any of them even when I found them on clearance. When I received this FingerPaints Enchanted Mermaid collection, I was loving the shades in the bottle...they are gorgeous, in...the...bottle.
Of course, the first shade I wanted to try was the blue, Sailor's Lure, a blue-purple duo chrome. While the color is so pretty, first impressions, I not feeling the finish. This is two coats.
Next is a golden-sage, Underwater Enchantress. Again, this is a pretty shade but the finish is not one I would wear. This is also 2 coats.
I've really been enjoying white manicures lately. This opalescent white is Sea Temptress. While this is 2 coats, to get full opacity, at least 3 coats would be needed.
Last, in this collection of four and probably my favorite is Tails of Love: a teal with a slight purple undertone. This is also 2 coats.
In summary, again, the shades are really pretty and I can only hope that FingerPaints will release them again but in a different finish. I'm not feeling this textured finish. If you are interested, this Enchanted Mermaid collection has already been spotted in several Sally Beauty Supply stores. FingerPaints sell for $5.29 or $4.49 with a Beauty Club Card. Have you given this or China Glaze Crinkled Chrome collection a try with any success, and if so what application method did you use?

Thanks so much for swatches! I'm not a fan of this particular texture finish either. Pass (you've saved me money, thanks!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this! I love the colors and I normally love textured polishes, but the finish on these is just scary :(
ReplyDeleteI soo wish these weren't texture because the colors are beyond gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm so glad I passed on these. They look so bizarre.
ReplyDeleteI purchased Sea Temptress, Tails of love & Underwater enchantress. I've used all three on my natural nails & the finish wasn't nearly as bumpy as your appear to be. I love the colors & the feel. Defiantly plan on stocking up on them before they stop selling. They have become my favorites!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that they worked for you...the colors are gorgeous but the finish just did not work for me.
