PRESS RELEASE: FingerPaints Film Noir, 2014 Wheel Swatches & Comparison

Press Sample

I wasn't overly impressed with the Enchanted Mermaids collection, but this Limited Edition FingerPaints Film Noir Collection is more to my liking. I wasn't sure what was meant by the "porcelain finish" descriptive. So I was excited to receive these for review. Now I can see it as an unfinished porcelain, almost chalkboard-like, matte finish. These shades are reminiscent of old Hollywood glamour. L to R: Hollywood Decadence, Beautiful Mystery, Film Noir, & Petal Obsession.

Ever since their brand revamp, FingerPaints has really been releasing some gorgeous polishes. So of course when I received the offer to review their latest Enchanted Mermaid collection, I was excited to give it a try. The press release described it as below:

"FingerPaints Enchanted Mermaid Collection is a LIMITED EDITION underworld inspired textured nail collection with 4 sailor-seducing shades. You will fall victim to the temptress effect of this innovative nail collection! The alluring fish scale texture is available in multi-tone shades that shimmer and shift like the friendly underwater creatures. After 2-3 coats you will see the full effect morph! This collection is so unique and eye-catching you are sure to be enchanted!"

I also really like textured nail polishes so again, I was anxious to give this collection a try. I will admit that I wasn't expecting this type of texture. There is another national brand that had a recent collection called Crinkled Chrome and from the swatches I saw, I had no desire to purchase any of them even when I found them on clearance.  When I received this FingerPaints Enchanted Mermaid collection, I was loving the shades in the bottle...they are gorgeous, in...the...bottle.

I'm wearing Gray for Diabetes Awareness...

October well known as Breast Cancer Awareness month and receives tremendous support and although I've been blessed enough not to have had any of my immediate family or friends impacted, I, also show my support. But November is Diabetes Awareness Month and this hits very close to home.

It is estimated that Diabetes affects 25.8 million people of all ages, that’s 8.3 % of the U.S. Population. It is the leading cause of kidney failure, new cases of blindness among adults, non-traumatic amputations, a major cause of heart disease and stroke. Diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death in the U.S. (U.S. Dept of HHS)

Finger Paints Itsy Bitsy Spider Went Up The Water Spot...

"The Itsy Bitsy spider climbed up the water spout, Down came the rain, and washed the spider out, Out came the sun, and dried up all the rain, So the Itsy Bitsy spider climbed up the spout again. I can't look at this polish without reciting this childhood poem. The Finger Paints 2013 Spring Collection greeted me as I walked into my local Sally Beauty. The first polish of this collection that grabbed my attention was Finger Paints Itsy Bitsy Spider. I have no idea what the name has to do with the color but OK...

There was no question, I would own this shade.  It's a lilac-lavender duochrome with a pinky turquoise iridescence.  It reminds me of OPI Color To Watch and Scrangie by Rescue Beauty Lounge; and since both are not readily available, I'm glad I got Finger Paints Itsy Bitsy Spider.

At first sight, I was concerned that it was very sheer and therefore, would need several coats to achieve full opacity, but that is not the case.  These pictures are 2 coats and there is no visible nail lines.

I have loved Finger Paints nail polishes for ages. I really don't think they get enough love. What have been some of your favorite Finger Paint shades?

Grace, Peace, & Blessings.

Autism Awareness: Finger Paints Inkblot Blue

Today's blue manicure is Finger Paints Inkblot Blue. It's part of the neon collection Finger Paints released during the Summer of 2012. It's not an highlighter neon but neon still.  As with most neon polishes, it dries matte.  It also has a jelly consistency.  When this collection was introduced, this blue and the purple were the two I immediately added to my shopping basket to purchase.

Because of its jelly formulation, you will need at least 3 coats to prevent any visible nail lines.  Here, I have it pictured with 2 coats and you can clearly see nail lines.  But it's not so noticeable that its detracting from the beauty of the polish.  This was a great collection.

Finger Paints Inkblot Blue was an excellent background for an unused glitter crackle I had in my stash.  I added China Glaze Gleam Me Up-a light aqua blue glitter crackle.  I received the China Glaze Glitter Crackle collection from the PR firm for review.  This is one of the four from the Glitter Crackle collection released during the Spring, 2012.  The application was easy and with one light coat of polish, the crackle effect was quickly achieved.

I normally don't do full manicures of glitters, but this combination is one I greatly admire and had no issue wearing as a full manicure.  What are some of the nail trends that you have started to like after having first not liking it?

Grace, Peace, & Blessings.

Top of the Morning To You: FingerPaints Guggen I'm Lime

top of the morning photo: Top Morning IrishTop.jpg
I have one more St. Patrick's Day manicure for you. I hate that it's no longer available but it is so pretty, I just had to share it with you.  One of my favorite brands that really doesn't get a lot of attention is Sally Beauty's FingerPaints.  Their color selection, price, formula and application all make for a really great nail polish.

Today I am sharing with you FingerPaints Guggen I'm Lime with an accent of Sinful Colors Call You Later.

FingerPaints Guggen I'm Lime is a gorgeous bright lime green shimmer with a golden undertone.  I wanted to add a little accent, so I chose Sinful Colors Call You Later, a green glitter with several shades of green glitter. I just used my long nail art brush to add a little flare.

Well that's all for the St. Patrick's Day manicures, but I'm sure that's not the end of the green polishes. 2013 is the Panetone Year of Emerald. So you will see more greens throughout the year. But until then,

Grace, Peace, & Blessings.

Flip Flop Fuchsia

Late Night Rendezvous

Sexy Sundress
I had to include a label shot of Sexy Sundress because the description states that this is a yellow. However, I must disagree.  This is definitely a lime green.

FingerPaints has long since been one of my favorite polish lines. If you haven't tried FingerPaints, you really are missing out--great formula, great colors, affordable price, and easily found at your local Sally Beauty.

Grace, Peace, & Blessings.

Season of Neon...

It seems that most of the polish manufacturers are coming out with neon collections.  Sally Beauty's Finger Paints line is included in that trend.  On a recent trip to Sally Beauty, I walked in and just inside the door was the Finger Paint latest neon collection.

Like a moth to a flame I went directly for the purple-PopArt Purple and the blue-InkBlot Blue.  As with most neons, they dry matte. There was also another Finger Paints collection, Summer In The City (Sorry, I didn't snap a picture).  Just like the neon, this collection had a shade that I was directly drawn to-Late Night Rendez-Vous, a blue-green micro flakie. The Summer in The City collection also includes Flip Flop Fuschia, To-Teally Hot, Beach Bound (purple), Movie In The Park (blue & purple glitter), and Sexy Sundress (yellow). In addition to these three, I picked up a polish that I have been eyeing for months, Finger Paints Art You Blue? It's a denim blue shimmer.  I also bought Orly Gilded Coral-dusty pink with golden shimmer (originally part of the Spring, 2011 Spring Collection) and Orly Terracotta-neon pinkish-orange. These are two shades that are part of the Orly core collection.

Have you picked up any neons for the summer?  Have you tried any of the Finger Paints polishes? If not, you really should. Their quality, colors, and application is right up there with the others.

  Grace, Peace, & Blessings.

FingerPaints Gumdrops & Lollipops Swatches pt 2.

Here are the other 2 shades I have purchased from the FingerPaints Spring 2012 Gumdrops & Lollipops Collection so far. While the first two I showed you in my previous posting, (here), were creams, these two are shimmers.

Grape Gumball - described as a Purple shimmer.  This is my favorite of the collection.  It is a mid-tone purple with a faint teal shimmer.  I did not experience any pooling with this formula.  It took 2 coats to achieve the bottle color.

Next, here's Pop Rock Pink.  Remember Pop Rock Candy? Although described as a Pink Shimmer. This is definitely jelly also.  This is a cross between pink, red and orange with a gold shimmer. Very pretty.

This collection and the FingerPaints line can be found exclusively at Sally Beauty for $4.99 USD.
