NOTD: Alternative "Interview" Manicure

I was scheduled for an interview so I knew that I needed to remove the cobalt blue polish I was wearing, but what was I going to wear. We all know that there is an "interview uniform" with regards to nail polish-bare, pink, or a mannequin-look. But I just wasn't feeling the bare/pink look. So I needed to decide on a mannequin-look. I had several creme nudes, but I wasn't feeling a creme polish either. So I decided on one of my untrieds-OPI DS Classic. This is from the OPI Designer Series of holographic polishes.
OPI DS Classic is a tan-beigey, scattered-holographic polish.  This is an "office safe" color with a little flash without being over-powering. Being a Woman of Color (WOC), this gives me the mannequin-look I often select for professional environments.  I think that this would also be gorgeous on sun-tanned skin during summer months.
I really do love the OPI Designer Series Holo polishes. The most recent polishes from this series have been glitters as opposed to holos.  I hope the OPI releases more holos very soon. They really do excellent holographic polishes.
With this manicure, I am wearing 2 coats of OPI DS Classic. I topped it with a coat of Seche Vite' and experienced none of the dreadful shrinking that so often comes with using SV. The application was smooth and opaque.

So this was my alternative interview manicure. What is your go-to "interview" manicure?

NOTD: China Glaze Fast Track

This has been the season of brights and neons and I felt the need to cleanse my palette, so I pulled out one of my untrieds. Today I am quickly showing you China Glaze Fast Track from the recent "Colours From The Capitol” Hunger Games Collection.  I have picked up a few from this collection but haven't gotten to wearing them all.  This color is a warm beige with gold fleckie shimmer.  While I have seen other shades that remind me of this, I really have not seen any true dupes.  China Glaze Fast Track is much lighter the China Glaze Ingrid, similar (same family but not dupes) to Essence Irreplaceable, Orly Nite Owl (silver shimmer) and Butter London All Hail The Queen (Silver shimmer).  In these pictures I am wearing 2 coats, but I would really suggest 3 coats for a true bottle color.

When you feel the need to cleanse your palette, what's your favorite "Go-To" shade?

Review:
  • Opacity: pictured is 2 coats but for no VNL I would suggest 3 coats.
  • Collection: 2012  Capitol Colours
  • Bottle:14 mL – 0.5 Fl oz.
  • Brush:Standard narrow brush
  • Price: China Glaze - Reg. $5.99 but can be often found on sale at Sally and other e-tailers.
  • Application: I didn't experience any difficulty with the application of Fast Track, not too thick or runny.
Grace, Peace, & Blessings.

NOTD: Sally Hansen Commander in Chic

Happy Saturday! Can you believe it, we have had over 25 days of below freezing temperatures in the state of Florida. There was even a day in which we saw snow flurries. LOL!!! So what better to do than stay in the house and play with polishes…

Sephora by OPI - Metro Chic, OPI - You Don't Jacque, Essie - Merino Cool, Sally Hansen - Commander in Chic and now China Glaze - Below Deck.  All very similar in tone.  Just so happened that I was in Wal-Mart and saw the Sally Hansen version and decided to give it a try.  BTW, I see that Wal-Mart now carries Essie ($7/bottle).  I have been wearing blues for so long, natural tones looks odd on my hand.  But I think I like it.

The brush had me concerned; it is wide and square, not like the normal narrow brushes we have come to know.  But surprisingly I found this brush to be excellent.  I was able to polish my nails with no overflow.  The bristles flared out just enough to reach the sides and not overlap on to the cuticle.  I have a shipment from Trans Design due to arrive Monday.  I have ordered the China Glaze - Below Deck and am excited to do a comparison.  We shall see.

BTW: If you want to see a side-by-side comparison of Metro Chic, Below Deck and Merino Cool, check out All-You-Desire.com. She did an excellent job in displaying the difference.
