NEW::: OPI Launches the Germany Collection for Fall/Winter 2012

Edgy Elegance

OPI embraces runway trends with the Germany Collection for Fall/Winter 2012. Drawing inspiration from Berlin, an exciting new fashion hub that blends classic looks with the avant-garde, the collection’s twelve shades offer a mixture of vibrant color, urban-chic neutrals, and reds in variations from light to dark.

“Designers showcased rich colors and striking textures for fall,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.  “The Germany Collection beautifully complements these looks, with standout shades in various hues of red and burgundy – the season’s ‘new black.’ Sapphire, black olive and lime yellow are married with creamy neutrals in honey, taupe and nude rose.”

“The overall feel of the Germany Collection is elegance with an edge,” adds Suzi. “The varied palette of colors adds another accent to the list of special touches – think beadwork, paneling, fur and embroidery – that walked the runways during New York Fashion Week. Wearing these shades on fingers and toes is a great way to accessorize a range of looks for the season.”

Germany by OPI includes the following shades:

My Very First Knockwurst

REVIEW: Maybelline Great Lash Limited Edition Color Mascaras

As I have said previously, I love Maybelline mascaras.  They are one of my favorites, even over higher-end, department store mascaras.  Also, if you have followed my blog or any other social media venue, it is no secret that purple and blue are my two favorite colors. So it goes without saying that when I saw the latest display of Maybelline color mascaras at my local Walgreens, that I jumped at the purple and blue.
I have been looking for a vibrant blue and purple eye liner as well as a mascara for ages.  So have I found the mascara I have been looking for? Let's See...

As you see the brush is the standard Great Lash brush. The colors on the brushes are vibrant enough, but how about on the lashes?

I started with 2 coats of Pop of Purple. And although not the same vibrancy as on the display, you can see the purple.  But I wanted more...

So I decided to try it with a white lash primer.  Thinking of the same that I do with polishing my nails a bright neon, I use a white under coat.  So here is Pop of Purple with Lash Primer (Sephora Perfecting Lash Primer).  A little more color, but this is with indoor lighting. So let's try it with the intense lighting of an OTT light...

Bamm!!! Pop of Purple with Lash Primer under Ott Light. I see the purple, but still not at the intensity level as advertised on the display.

Next was Blink of Blue. Much like the Pop of Purple, you can see the color but still not as vibrant of the display because I don't know about you, but I don't walk around with an overhead OTT Light...LOL!

I tried the same primer trick. So here is Blink of Blue layered over my Sephora Perfecting Lash Primer.

Lastly, here is Blink of Blue under my OTT Light...BAMM!!!

So what is my opinion of these latest mascaras?  While I was really excited about seeing the colored mascaras, I would love to see these colors more vibrant and with one of the other Maybelline mascara products, like Falsies.  Great Lash, when compared to some of the more recent Maybelline products, just does not give me what I want in a mascara. I am going to try layering these with some of my favorite mascaras to see if I get the look I am aiming for and a look closer to the display.

Have you spotted these latest Maybelline Limited Edition Color Mascaras yet? If so which colors did you jump on?  I think I will get the teal since my town's NFL Team's (Jacksonville Jaguar) colors are teal and black.
BTW: Please excuse the tired eyes. I was so tired but really wanted to get this post done ASAP. LOL!

Grace, Peace, & Blessings.

PREVIEW: Dickinson's Witch Hazel Skin Care Line

There are certain brands that just ring nostalgic...brands like Ivory Soap, Vaseline, Palmers, Johnson & Johnson, Palmolive, and Jergens are just a few.  I can't remember a time as a child (a loooong time ago), that most of these products weren't in my house.  I recently saw a commercial advertising a new product line from one of those brands from long ago...Dickinson's Witch Hazel! Some brands, for me, just based on my experiences with that brand, I will jump at the opportunity to try new products from that brand.  Dickinson's Witch Hazel was what I used as my toner for years...I don't know why I stopped using it. Probably the marketing of other brands that enticed me.
Anyway, I saw this commercial and saw that Dickinson's has introduced several new products in their skin care line: Gentle Skin Cleanser Lotion, Pore Perfecting Toner, Foaming Facial Wash, Oil Controlling Astringent, Oil Controlling Towelettes.

As someone with combination-oily skin, I am always on the hunt for products that will help control my oil levels. No one wants to walk around looking like an oil slick throughout the day.  So while on a recent trip to Walgreens, I spotted the new Dickinson's Witch Hazel product line and I picked up the Foaming Facial Wash.

Dickinson's Promise:

This foaming facial wash delivers clean without complication. It uses the power of witch hazel to gently remove dirt and impurities from even the most sensitive, reactive complexions while controlling excess oil daily. Its non-drying, non-irritating formula contains mild yet effective ingredients that maintain balance even when used with most treatment regimens.

  • All skin types
  • 100% all natural, No harsh chemicals
  • No soaps, fragrances, oil, dyes, parabens, sulfates or reasons to worry
  • Dissolves excess oil
  • Clears pores
  • Rinses Clean
  • Maintain balance
  • No animal testing

  • The next product I picked up was the Oil Controlling Astringent.
    Dickinson's Promise:

This oil controlling astringent maintains a shine-free complexion throughout the day. Its 100% natural witch hazel formula, infused with refreshing witch hazel flower extract, gently removes excess oil, dirt and bacteria helping to prevent blemishes without dryness or irritation - for beautifully clear and healthy looking skin everyday.

  • 100% all natural,  No harsh chemicals
  • No fragrances, oils, dyes parabens, sulfates or reasons to worry
  • Fights blemishes
  • Cleans deep
  • Will not overdry
  • Eliminates shine
  • Dermatologist recommended
  • Maintain balance
  • No animal testing

  • My initial experience:

As this Dickinson's Foaming Facial Cleanser does not claim to remove make-up, I first used a facial wipe (Aveeno Ultra Calming) to remove my make-up.  I then used the  Dickinson's Foaming Facial Cleanser with my Clarisonic. I did not experience a ton of foam but it did lather.  The cleanser did not leave my face feeling tight or drawn.  I intentionally waited after rinsing to see if I experienced that tightness. We are all familiar with that too tight feeling we have gotten from some cleanser.  I followed up with the Oil Control Astringent.  It wasn't harsh nor did it sting.  I followed up with my eye cream and moisturizer and was set for the evening.  So after my first use of these two products, I am happy with the result and I will be adding them to my skin care regimen and hope for the best.  I still need to see how the "oil controlling" works.

Have you tried any of the Dickinson's Witch Hazel facial products, if so which ones?  Also, what are some of your favorite beauty/cosmetic brands from your childhood?

    Grace, Peace, & Blessings.

I realize that the Sinful Colors website has been "under construction" for several months, but I have started seeing movement with the brand; so I hope to see the website up and running soon.
