PR: Murad Partners With City Of Hope To Raise Funds For Breast And Women’s Cancers Research

If you have been following my blog, you know that I have been posting pink nail polishes everyday to show my support for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Today, however, I would like to share something that came across my desk.

The skin care company, Murad is Partnering With City Of Hope To Raise Funds For Breast And Women’s Cancers Research.

In observation of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, Murad, Inc. has announced the launch of the limited-edition Hydrate for Hope set featuring Hydro-Dynamic® Ultimate Moisture and Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture for eyes to benefit City of Hope, one of the nation’s leading research, treatment and education centers for cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

The Hydrate for Hope set locks in optimal moisture levels for 8 hours* and includes one 1.7 ounce jar of Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture, an all-purpose moisturizer that soothes and infuses skin with long-lasting hydration along with one 0.12 ounce jar of Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture for eyes, a specially formulated eye moisturizer that firms and awakens the eye area. The set includes a pink polka-dot makeup bag and retails for $49.50 (a $79 value). Murad will donate 10% from the sale of each set sold to retailers to City of Hope’s breast and women’s cancers research, treatment and education programs.

“We are thrilled to be continuing our relationship with City of Hope for the second year in a row. City of Hope’s mission to treat the whole person mirrors perfectly with my practice of Inclusive Health, ultimately creating a healthier, happier population,” said Howard Murad, M.D., FAAD, Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCLA and founder of Murad, Inc. “Over the years at my dermatology practice, I have personally seen cancer patients with dry, dehydrated skin as a side effect of their treatments. It was with this in mind that I chose the Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture duo for this set. And it is my hope that through this partnership Murad can help City of Hope come one step closer to cures for these horrible diseases.”

Murad will be running further promotions throughout their various channels to raise additional funds for City of Hope. A limited-time “Hydrate for Hope” facial will be offered at all Murad Inclusive Health Spa locations throughout the country with 10% of the sales going to City of Hope. Other planned promotions include sponsorship of an employee team for City of Hope’s Walk for Hope Los Angeles, various promotions throughout Murad’s social media channels and the option to make a donation at check-out on Murad.com and through Murad’s Customer Service line at 1-800-33-MURAD.

“One in three women will be diagnosed with cancer in her lifetime. City of Hope’s Women’s Cancers Program conducts innovative research to provide effective interventions for women with breast and gynecological cancers, and prevention of disease among women at risk,” said Joanne Mortimer, M.D., director of City of Hope’s Women’s Cancers Program. “We are grateful for the funding we have received through Murad’s Hydrate for Hope program. Murad’s generous support enables us to provide a continuum of care – from research to risk assessment, prevention, treatment, education and survivorship.”

The Hydrate for Hope set will be available at Murad.com, Sephora.com, Massage Envy, the Murad Inclusive Health Spa®, the Murad Inclusive Health Medical Group, and leading spas and salons beginning October 2012. We Must Find a Cure! 31 Days of Pink...(Day 9)

I am really enjoying this 31 Days of Pink. Aside from showing my support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this is making me go through many of my untrieds.  Today I am sharing with you one of the polishes I picked up during one of the many Sinful Colors sales Walgreens has every few months.  Today, I am sharing, Sinful Colors Cream Pink.  This is a blue based bright pink, almost neon, with micro gold shimmer, Gold I said!

After a summer of neons, I thought I was done for the year, but with Sinful Colors Cream Pink, I had to give neons, one final hello. Sinful Colors Cream Pink dries to a satin finish. When I first saw the bottle, at a distance, it appeared to be just another bright pink cream, but once I picked the bottle up and gave it a closer look, I was in love.

The application was smooth. I achieved bottle color and full opacity with 2 coats.  I remember a time when I was really a polish snob, but I am happy to say that I have overcome that. If you haven't given Sinful Colors a try, you really should. Especially, during on of Walgreens $0.99 sale. But Sinful Colors is also available at Walmart and Target.

We Must Find a Cure! 31 Days of Pink...(Day 8)

Have you ever purchase a polish mainly because of its name? Well today's polish, for me was just such a polish. I had looked at this polish time and time again, it's pretty, nothing WOW! but it's a safe color.  It would be a good office-safe color, but for some reason I just would never buy it until one day I just took the plunge and did it.

I know that there is an adult beverage that goes by the same name (any guesses?) but I don't drink, so I will live vigariously through this polish.

That's right, today, I'm sharing with you a release from days gone by. China Glaze Sex On The Beach.  This is from an old collection. I wasn't even able to determine when it was released. If you know when China Glaze Sex On The Beach was release and with which collection, please share.

This is a soft peachy pink microglitter. The application is sheer and would require three coats to achieve full opacity. As pictured, this is 2 coats.  But again, this is a "safe" shade; of if you are looking for something other than a creme for the office, seek out China Glaze Sex On The Beach. Just don't tell your manager the name of the polish, LOL!

We Must Find a Cure! 31 Days of Pink...(Day 7)

As promised, here is the second pink from the Orly Electronica collection, SynchroSynchro is a pinky, mauve with a blue iridescence. In the bottle it has a duochrome appearence.  It is close to impossible for me to pass up duochromes.

As I mentioned in the previous post, Synchro was released with the 2012 Electronica Collection earlier this year.

Just look at this bottle picture; how could any polish addict pass this by? It looks like a pink oil slick.

I must admit, on the nail, the finish is not as magnificent as it is in the bottle, but pretty nonethenless.  Synchro is a sheer polish is requires at least 3 coats to achieve full opacity. Pictured, this is two coats and you can still see visible nail lines.  You can see the blue iridescence, but I also had a difficult time trying to not get the brushstroke marks.

I was ready to post these pictures when I asked myself, what would Synchro look like over black? So I tried it over Sinful Colors Black on Black.

It still has that oil slick look. I think I will play with Orly Synchro and other layerings. But either way, this a duochrome that I couldn't pass up.

We Must Find a Cure! 31 Days of Pink...(Day 6)

I missed posting yesterday so today, I will give you two pinks; just so happens they are both from the same collection. During Fall, 2012, Orly released a small collection of 4 new shades-2 of which were in the pink family. Prior to seeing this collection in my local Sally Beauty, I had not heard anything about its release. Electronica included Decoded, a medium gray, Shockwave, a blue creme and two pinks. The first, pink is Preamp.  A beautiful blue based pink with pink micro glass flakies.

I've made it no secret, I love the Orly brand. The application of Preamp was a bit watery, so be sure to apply with care so you don't flood your cuticles. With the first coat, Orly Preamp was sheer but after the 2nd coat I achieve full opacity.  This is a shade I'm very glad to own. I hope Orly releases other polishes with this finish.

NBCAM Note:

Estimated new cases and deaths from breast cancer in the United States in 2012: (Cancer.gov)
  •  New cases: 226,870 (Female); 2,190 (Male)
Please, don't forget to remind the men in your lives to also take care and to do their monthly self breast exams. It's not just for women.
