NOTD: SoFlaJo's Going Down?...My Own Sunshine...

I know that this is Florida, the Sunshine State, but lately, its looked more like Seattle or London.  Being that I was born in June, I need sunshine in my life, so when I can't stand the gray clouds any longer, I must "create" my own sunshine. So this time, I looked to a fellow Floridian, Jody of SoFlaJo.  Earlier this year, I was fortunate enough to receive her Matte Love collection.  Previously, I had always limited matte nail polishes to Fall and Winter.  All the matte polishes I had seen to date were dark and/or neutral colors. But Jody's Matte collection includes a gorgeous golden, shimmer yellow matte she named Going Down?.  Jody describes Going Down? as "A bold shimmery yellow matte. This color reminds me of that famous big yellow bird on TV!"

Even without a shiny top coat, there is still a golden shimmer to this polish; adding a topcoat brightens the shimmer.

A concern I had always had with matte polishes was that you don't apply a fast dry top coat because that would cancel the matte effect. I don't know if Jody claims this collection to be fast dry, but I can say from my personal experience, even with 3 coats, my manicure was completely dry in less than 10 minutes.

Jody's was the first Indie collection I had ever tried but I can assure you it won't be the last.  I love the level of creativity I'm seeing from fellow nail addicts, LOL!  I still have 3 others from the Love Matte collection to share along with another collection from Jody.  I can't wait to see what other gems she has in the making.

New Milani Naturally Chic Nudes Runway Eyes Fashion Shadows Limited Edition Collection

There seems to be no limited to the number of neutral palettes "I must have". And Milani's newest release has only added to my neutral palette stash. They recently announce the launch of the Naturally Chic Nudes Runway Eyes Fashion Shadows Limited Edition Collection.
I had seen the Runway Eyes Shadows before but had never purchased any.  Iit was these neutral shades that called to me.  I hadn't realized that the Runways Eye Shadows were in fact baked shadows, which means I can achieve two effects simply by using them either dry or wet.  Each palette comes with 6 eye color bars.

The first of the two is Naturally Chic (19). It's shades are the lighter and warmer of the two palettes.  These colors are ideal for daily wear and are very office friendly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The second of the two is True Classics (20). These shades are darker and cooler and would be great for achieving that sultry, smokey eye.
This collection is available during the month of March at select Walgreen and Fred Meyer stores.  I purchased mine from Walgreens for $7.99 each.
What are some of your favorite neutral palettes? And will you be adding the New Naturally Chic Nudes Runway Eyes Fashion Shadows to your collection?
More Milani Color Statement Lipsticks Swatches...
I know that by now, you've probably been inundated with YT videos and blog posts about the New Milani Color Statement Lipsticks Collection. As I mentioned in my early February Drugstore Haul YT video, I picked up 4 of their lipsticks, but since then I've purchased a "few" more. My lipstick addition is running a close second to my nail polish addiction, LOL!
On the off-chance that you haven't heard about the New Milani Color Statemet Lipstick Collection, their claim is as follows:
"COLOR STATEMENT LIPSTICK
Make a statement without saying a word!  True Instant Color. One stroke, full coverage application. This next generation lipstick gives the ultimate in color, texture and finish.  The lightweight creamy formula contains Vitamins A, C, & E to moisturize and nourish lips. Paraben-free. Available in Vinyl, Metallic, Cream, Shimmer, Pearl & Matte finish."
L-to-R: Cherry Crave (Metallic) is a gorgeous red with golden highlights, Teddy Bare (Cream) a perfect pinky nude, Bronze Beauty (Shimmer) a copper-penny bronze
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

L-to-R: Raspberry Rush (Metallic) a more sheer pink with blue undertones, Uptown Mauve (Cream) a blue-based magenta, Chilled Brandy (Shimmer) a warm burgundy, Violet Volt (Metallic)-one of the must haves

 I really like the new packaging of this collection. It's a sleek and classic gold with a true-to-life color end-cap; no more having to open the tube to determine the color.

NOTD: Nanacoco City of Emeralds

Today I want to share with you another polish from a collection I stumbled upon last Fall, Nanacoco.  I posted about my first sighting of the bottles, thinking they were OPI DS polishes. When I bought the others, there were 2 in the collection that I wanted but my Beauty Supply Store didn't have in stock at the time.

I was finally able to get the other two so today, I am sharing with you Nanacoco City of Emeralds, a warm lime green chrome foil.  The application, just as the previous posts, was trouble-free. The fumes are no stronger than any of the other nail polishes, so as with any nail polish, I suggest a well ventilated area.

Since my orignal posts, have you had a chance to try any of the Nanacoco polishes? And if so, which ones?

Original Posts:
Nanacoco Crystal HD Collection Part 1
Nanacoco Crystal HD Collection Part 2

Review:
  • Application: If done properly, you could probably get a fully opaque application with just one coat. But with my first try I experienced streaking, much like the streaking I get with holographic polishes. But with the second coat, the finish was just right.
  • Available: So far, I have only seen this line in 1 of my local beauty supply stores.
  • Price: Reg Price $1.99
  • Bottle Size: 16 ml, 0.54 fluid ounces
  • Selection: Collections include classics, neons, and this Crystal collection
  • Brush: square brush head between a normal brush and the likes of an OPI pro-wide.

Maybelline: Color Goes Electric Color Show Nail Polishes

I had been hearing about the New Limited Edition Maybelline Color Goes Electric line including the glosses, blushes, lipsticks and nail polishes for a couple weeks now. But from the pictures I had seen, I was underwelmed.  The lipsticks looked very similiar to the Maybelline Colorsensations Vivids I already own; the glosses also looked very similar, and the nail polishes really didn't WOW me.  But as fate would have it, tonight I was in a local Walgreens and they had the Maybelline Color Goes Electric display.  Being the nail polish addict that I am, I at least, had to take a look at them. OMG! The pictures that I had seen did not do any justice for the actual polishes.  The pictures all looked like creams and didn't look like anything really special. I made the "mistake" of picking up one of the bottles.  Before I knew it I had 7 of 10 in my shopping cart.  And I wouldn't be surprised if I go back for the other 3.
If you've watched any of my YT videos or read any of my blog posts, it will be no surprise that the first polishes I picked up were the blues and purples.  Passionate Plum is a deep purple with a blue/pink irridescent. It is gorgeous.
Another polish I gravitated toward was Extreme Orange. This will be a great summer color; it's bright without being neon. It has a golden luster finish and I think this will complement any tanned skin.
 Shock Wave was another one of the polishes I thought was just your average cream of which I already had several dupes. But I was wrong. Shock Wave is a bright cobalt blue with a luster finish.
 Green has never been my favorite color, but surprisingly, I have quickly gathered several green polishes.  Lustrous Lime is a bright electric lime green with a golden luster.
Intense Teal, I don't know if it's because my town's NFL Team's colors are Teal & Black, but whatever the reason, teal is another color that I have added a lot of to my collection. This is one color that could be worn year-round. Deep enough for winter, yet vivid enough for Spring & Summer.
Flash of Purple, is a gorgeous violet purple. I can think of at least one other polish I want to do a side-by-side comparison.  It has a pink irridesicent undertone.
Lastly, but there should be no doubt, that I would buy this polish. Blast of Blue is a beautiful navy blue with a slight purple/green irridescence.

Well that's it for now. Again, I just wanted to quickly share these with you because they are a Limited Edition and since Walgreens has them on sale this week through Saturaday, 3/2/2013, BOGO 50% off, I wouldn't want you to miss out.  I'll be doing additional blog posts with full manicure swatches and comparisons where available.

Have you purchased any of the New Limited Edition Maybelline Color Goes Electric collection and so which did you buy? I need to see a swatch of that orang blush also.

Grace, Peace, & Blessings.
