Salon Perfect First Look Fall Polish Forecast, 2013-Swatches-Part 1

It's days like today, with a heat index of 105 degrees, that makes me super anxious for cooler months. Not only because of the cooler temperatures, but I really love the colors of Fall. And the nail polish makers are going strong with the Fall collections. I was recently sent half of the newest Salon Perfect First Look Fall Polish Forecast Collection, for review. And after seeing the collection in person, I purchased the other half.  In addition to the newest 11 shades, this collection includes a matte top coat, Matte FX, so that actually doubles the number of manicures you can achieve from this collection :)

Glitter Galore: Sinful Color Diamond Lust Collection - I Dream In Jewels layered over Pure Ice Over The Top

Last week I started sharing with you some of the Sinful Colors glitters I purchased from the new Diamond Lust collection along with complementary bases.  I am still surprised just how much I have been drawn to glitters lately.

Today, I have another combination to share.  When I first saw the Sinful Colors Diamond Lust display, the very first polish I was drawn to was a gorgeous golden copper glitter named I Dream In Jewels. This clear base has a mixture of gold and red micro glitters along with holographic diamond shaped glitter.
As I explained previously, the Sinful Colors Diamond Lust collection consists of clear bases with colorful  and holographic glitters. There are multiple sized and shaped glitters, including micro, diamond, bar, dot and hexagonal.

I decided to layer Sinful Colors I Dream In Jewels over another of my untrieds. I decided on Pure Ice Over The Top. This was one of the limited edition polishes Pure Ice released as part of their Runway Collection last Fall.  Over The Top was part of the Velour Finish Collection.  It dries to a gorgeous matte suede finish.  I love this shade and finish against my skin tone. I own a couple others and need to see if I can find the others from this collection.  The application was simple with no issues. As pictured, this is 2 coats.

So to my Pure Ice Over The Top manicure, I layered Sinful Colors I Dream In Jewels. I am loving this combination and can't wait to match it with other shades in my stash.  It almost has a mannequin look but with a little bling.

Well, I will have other Sinful Colors Diamond Lust combination very soon.  If you missed my previous post, click here to see Rags To Riches

The glitter bug has really bitten me. I have been buying glitter polishes like crazy lately. What are some of your favorite glitter polishes?

Grace, Peace, & Blessings.

Here Comes The Sun...Salon Perfect Orange A-Peel

Living in Florida, I know a thing or two about Oranges. And today's Salon Perfect Orange A-Peel is like an orange in a bottle.  On a recent trip to Walmart, I found the revamped Salon Perfect collection.  I was already familiar with the brand.  I reviewed the line last year when they released their Spring collection.  But they have recently revamped their bottle as well as their line.  I will go into more detail with a later post, as I have a giveaway in the works.
But for today, I'm sharing with you one of my recent purchases, Orange A-Peel.  This is a bright, just short of neon orange. It dries to a satin matte finish.

Here I am wearing 2 coats with no top coat. The first coat went on a bit streaky but leveled off with the 2nd coat. I really like the Salon Perfect product line and look forward to additions to the collection.  They have creams, glitters, neons, and many other fashion colors; many of which will look very similar to a professional brand you are probably very familiar with...hint, hint...

Salon Perfect is exclusive to Walmart and sells for $3.98 for 0.5 fl oz bottle. There are currently over 60 shades in the collection.
Salon Perfect Orange A-Peel is just an excellent Summer shade and would look great against all tan skintones. So go get you pedicure and pull out your favorite sandals. What are some of your favorite Summer shades?

Grace, Peace, & Blessings.

Autism Awareness: Pure Ice Blue Midnight

Today's blue manicure is from the Pure Ice Velour Finish collection that was released during the Fall of 2012.  This collection is described as having a suede finish.  Today's manicure is Pure Ice Blue Midnight.  This is a deep blue that dries to a matte/suede finish.

While you could add a top coat to achieve a shiny finish, I enjoyed the velvet finish. The application required 2 coats to prevent any visible nail line.
I decided to add a little bling by doing an accent nail.  I pulled another untried from my stash. I added Pure Ice Never Satisfied-a blue based glitter. It has blue micro glitter and pink & gold hexagonal glitters.  I like the contrast of the suede finish and the one glitter accent nail.

Pure Ice released several new limited edition polishes last year. I need to see if I can find any of them.  I really do like this Velour Finish collection. Did you get any of their limited edition collections and if so which are your favorites?

Grace, Peace, & Blessings.

NOTD: SoFlaJo's White Sensation...It's Snowing in Florida...

Today I want to share with you another polish I received for review from Jodi of SoFlaJo. This is another polish from the Love Matte Collection. As I mentioned in previous posts, I had only seen dark and/or neutral colored matte polishes, so the idea of a white matte completely surprised me. But Jody has done it again; SoFlaJo White Sensation is a gorgeous shimmer, white matte.

When I'm sporting shorter nails, I tend to like more neutral polishes, but having recently seen one of my nail blogger mentors showing a series of white polishes, I decided to give White Sensation a try. At first sight, it reminded me of the early morning snow falls I experienced as a child.  Living in NY, I always loved to see the Evergreens with the first fallen snow. But now living in Florida, a snowfall is highly unlikely.
Disclaimer: Product samples provided by the company/PR for an unbiased & honest consideration.
Even without a top coat, SoFlaJo White Sensation has a shimmer finish; adding a top coat, intensifies that shimmer.

Left: No Top Coat, Right: With Top Coat
Also, SoFlaJo White Sensation is an ideal polish for a bridal party. In these pictures I am wearing 2 coats. While I normally don't like visible nail lines (VNL), with this polish, I prefer VNLs, because it gives a pseudo french manicure look without the stark contrast.
Much like the other matte polish I reviewed from SoFlaJo, Going Down, White Sensation, has an excellent application, with no streaking and was fast to dry. I have really been loving the lighter matte polishes and can see myself wearing other mattes during the Spring and Summer.

NOTD: SoFlaJo's Going Down?...My Own Sunshine...

I know that this is Florida, the Sunshine State, but lately, its looked more like Seattle or London.  Being that I was born in June, I need sunshine in my life, so when I can't stand the gray clouds any longer, I must "create" my own sunshine. So this time, I looked to a fellow Floridian, Jody of SoFlaJo.  Earlier this year, I was fortunate enough to receive her Matte Love collection.  Previously, I had always limited matte nail polishes to Fall and Winter.  All the matte polishes I had seen to date were dark and/or neutral colors. But Jody's Matte collection includes a gorgeous golden, shimmer yellow matte she named Going Down?.  Jody describes Going Down? as "A bold shimmery yellow matte. This color reminds me of that famous big yellow bird on TV!"

Even without a shiny top coat, there is still a golden shimmer to this polish; adding a topcoat brightens the shimmer.

A concern I had always had with matte polishes was that you don't apply a fast dry top coat because that would cancel the matte effect. I don't know if Jody claims this collection to be fast dry, but I can say from my personal experience, even with 3 coats, my manicure was completely dry in less than 10 minutes.

Jody's was the first Indie collection I had ever tried but I can assure you it won't be the last.  I love the level of creativity I'm seeing from fellow nail addicts, LOL!  I still have 3 others from the Love Matte collection to share along with another collection from Jody.  I can't wait to see what other gems she has in the making.

PRODUCT REVIEW: Maybelline Color Show Nail Polishes

Earlier this year, Maybelline New York announced the release of their new collection of 40 polish shades.  As a nail polish addict, from the moment of the announcement, I was on the hunt for the Maybelline New York Color Show collection. So I was really excited when I first saw a part of the collection in my local Walgreens.  They had about half of the collection and I then found the other half at Walmart.  I haven't seen the entire collection at any one retailer.  I grabbed my first 2 at Walgreens and another 3 at Walmart.  If you have followed my blog, my twitter or facebook, you know that I LOVE blues and purples, and so of course, the first of this collection I purchased was blues and a purple.
The collection has several finishes from creams, metallics, shimmers, mattes, denims and what they are calling their crackles-shredded.

So I picked up a couple of their metallics.  The first is Navy Narcissist.  A gorgeous metallic blue.  The application was good with not any real issues.  This is two coats.

The next shade I picked up was Blue Freeze. Another blue, but this was a navy blue with purple and blue shimmers.

Next, I think is my favorite of bunch I have purchased so far is Denim Dash. It is a satin-matte finish blue with silver specks.  I don't own anything similar to this so I am glad that I added it to my collection.  Application was a dream.

The next polish I grabbed from the denim collection was a darker blue, called Styled Out.  This is another satin-matte finish with teal specks.  These two Denim polishes remind me of some of my favor jeans.  These two denims also apply with ease.  Hopefully they will release the equivalent to a dark or black denim.

Lastly, I could not pass up a purple metallic I found at Walmart. Amethyst Ablaze is a gorgeous purple metallic.

BTW, the shade name is the same as one of the EYE STUDIO® COLOR EXPLOSION™ eye shadows I own. It looks like they have reused some of the names of their previous products.

As a whole, from the shades I have tried, this is a great collection: many great colors, readily available at your local discount retailers, almost opaque with one coat, great prices ($5.99 at Walgreens, $2.97 at Walmart). and several finishes.  From the colors I've seen, most of the current trends can be covered with this collection (brights, neons, metallics, etc.)

Have you tried any of the new Maybelline Color Show collection? If so, which colors and what was your opinion?

Grace, Peace, & Blessings.
