Zoya Charla Comparisons...lots of them...

I am so excited about this post. There is a side-by-side comparison that I have wanted to do for ages and I finally have all the pieces in place to do it; well at least until another brand adds to the list.  Zoya Charla is a well loved blue-green shimmer that I just added to my stash with this recent Zoya Earth Day promotion. I have often come across other polishes that would remind me of Zoya Charla, but it was not until now that I could do a real side-by-side comparison. The polishes I am showing are: (This list is the order in which they are shown on the wheels also-L to R).
  • Essence Choose Me ($0.99)
  • Wet n Wild Teal of Fortune ($1.99)
  • Zoya Charla ($8.00)
  • NYX Girls ($1.49)
  • Sinful Colors Kissy ($1.99)
  • Finger Paints Late Night Rendezvous ($4.99)

Looking at the bottles alone, you see that they are in the same family but that's where the similarities end.  Now let's look at them each with just one coat.

With just one coat there is less of a visible difference.  The are some differences in the shimmer colors and opacity, but not much. A muggle wouldn't have a clue. LOL!  Now let's look at them with two coats.

What I see when comparing the six polishes are as follows:
  • Essence Choose Me - has more gold shimmer
  • Wet n Wild Teal of Fortune - more sheer, and has teal shimmer
  • Zoya Charla - the most opaque of the bunch
  • NYX Girls - most sheer with gold shimmer
  • Sinful Colors Kissy - gold shimmer
  • Finger Paints Late Night Rendezvous - more blue toned

Again, where a muggle may not see a difference, a true polish addict, can clearly see differences.  So if you can't get one, there are others that are at least in the same color family. I love doing comparisons and I hope this post has been beneficial to you.  Do you know of any other polishes similar to Charla that I have missed? I must admit, they are each very pretty.

Grace, Peace, & Blessings.

NOTD: China Glaze Techno Teal (Tronica)

Strange, just yesterday I posted that I was having a difficult time deciding on my next mani.  Trying to decide, I ended up with a Skittle mani and as I suspected, I chose a shade not even in that 10. I know that I should be wearing pink today, it being Pink Wednesday, but China Glaze Techno Teal has been calling me for quite some time so here is it.  As with the other Tronica Collection I needed to thin it out just a little to prevent the goopiness.  Even with one coat you could clearly see the scattered holo but I went ahead and applied two coats followed with a top coat.  It is a beautiful medium teal. The Tronica Collection was a Sally Beauty Exclusive this past spring.  I currently own all but one, Mega Bite (yellow) of the collection.  I have seen it recently on the clearance rack but was unable to get it at the time.  If I should come across it again, I will complete my collection.  I can only hope that China Glaze issues other holographic polishes and soon.  More swatches to come.  Remember, your nails, treat them as jewels, not tools.

Grace and Peace.

NOTD: Orly Royal Velvet – a real Multi-chrome!!!

Orly Royal Velvet-Interior Lighting
I missed out on all the earlier holographic and duochrome polishes.  In my previous life, I was a die-hard, red and berry only person.  Guess I am going through a midlife crisis because I am now LOVING the blues, purples, and greens.  Even more the, duochromes and holos.

My choice for today is Orly Royal Velvet, which is from their current Precious collection (Spring, 2011).  When I first saw this collection, it was Royal Velvet that caught my eye and then when I saw it worn by other bloggers, I knew that I must have it.  From what I have read and seen, it appears to be a cousin of SpaRitual Health, Wealth & Happiness, but since I have never seen SpaRitual Health, Wealth & Happiness IRL, I can only judge by pictures.  It does appear to be in the same duochrome family.   These pictures don't do this polish justice.  This is one you must see for yourself.

Orly Royal Velvet-Sunlight
Review: Orly Royal Velvet is like having four manis in one.  From one view, my nails are purple, from another teal, and another green and yet another blue.  This is more of a quadchrome instead of a duochrome.  I own other polishes that claim to be duochrome, and it is visible in the bottle.  But upon application, there is no evidence of the duochrome.  Not so with Royal Velvet.  It is visible in the bottle and on the nails.  The application is similar to other Orly polishes I own-smooth.  My all time favorite red is Orly Bus Stop Crimson.  This is polish definitely requires at least 2 coats (as pictured), but it is a keeper.  IMO, if you don’t already own this one, you don’t want to miss out.  This is a true multichrome.

NOTD: OPI-Ski Teal We Drop - LOVE IT!!!!

OMG!  This may be my new favorite!  As I have posted previously, I am loving the blues but this OPI Ski Teal We Drop is gorgeous!!!  It is a Medium Teal cream that flows on nicely and dries quickly.  My city’s NFL team’s colors are Teal and Black.  I have found my football season polish!!!!
