China Glaze New Bohemian Luster Chrome revisited
Thursday, September 27, 2012
There is a drug store brand that has recently released a luster collection that reminds me very much of the China Glaze New Bohemian Luster Chrome collection that was just released this past August. Since I did't get a chance to share them with you then (although I know the blogosphere was bombarded with swatches), I will take this opportunity to do so. Even as recent as this past weekend, I have spotted the China Glaze New Bohemian Luster Chrome collection in a local Sally Beauty. So they are still available.
The collection consists of 6 duochrome (multichrome) polishes:
* Those shades noted with an asterisk (*) were sent to me for review consideration by the PR department of the Manufacturer. These however are my honest opinions. I am not employed by nor was I paid by this company.
The collection consists of 6 duochrome (multichrome) polishes:
- Unpredictable* – "Multidimensional gorgeous green" - depending on the lighting I saw transitions from Teal to Green to Gold. Application was smooth but brushstrokes were evident.
- Rare & Radiant – Extraordinarily rich gold - depending on the lighting I saw transitions from Green to Olive to Gold to Bronze. Rare & Radiant is said to be a dupe of the much sought after Chanel Peridot. Rare & Radiant is also duppish of OPI Just Spotted The Lizard.
- Swanky Silk – Brilliant beige with peach undertones - depending on the lighting I saw transitions from Gold to Peach to Pink. I would definitely go for 3 coats with my next application.
- No Plain Jane – Lavish lavender-pink - depending on the lighting I saw transitions from Purple to Lavender to Pink. This reminds me of one of the Nubar duochromes, Purple Beach.
- Want My Bawdy – Sexy sapphire blue - depending on the lighting I saw transitions from a gorgeous sapphire blue to a deep purple. Funny, I recently did a swatch of Nicole by OPI-It's Up To You, that is a sapphire blue to purple duochrome.
- Deviantly Daring* – Adventurously bold peacock teal - depending on the lighting I saw transitions from blue to teal. I don't have anything in my collection similar to Deviantly Daring so I am happy to have it.
Review:
- Opacity: pictured is 2 coats several would require additional coats prevent all visible nail lines.
- Application: each of the six requires great care to prevent brushstrokes
- Bottle: 14 mL – 0.5 Fl oz.
- Brush: Standard narrow brush
- Price: China Glaze - Reg. $5.99-6.99, but can be often found on sale at Sally, Ulta and other e-tailers.
* Those shades noted with an asterisk (*) were sent to me for review consideration by the PR department of the Manufacturer. These however are my honest opinions. I am not employed by nor was I paid by this company.
REVISITED: OPI Princesses Rule! for Pink Wednesday
Wednesday, September 26, 2012
What day is it? Oh, It's Pink Wednesday. This week I'm revisiting an old friend, OPI Princesses Rule! This is not the first time I have shared this shade with you but its been a while and it deserves a second look. Princesses Rule! was released with the 2009 Princess Charming Collection. I would describe it as a sheer pale pink shimmer with tons of glass flecks. This is one that needs to be in everyone's collection.
Grace, Peace, & Blessings.
* FTC: These products were bought with my own money. These are my honest opinions. I am not employed by nor was I paid by any of these companies. This is not a sponsored post.
Are you wearing Pink nail polish today? If so, what are you sporting?
Grace, Peace, & Blessings.
NOTD: Nicole by OPI, It's Up To You...
Tuesday, September 25, 2012
During a recent trip to Marshalls, I spotted several bottles of nail polish; and you know I had to stop and take a look. I had seen bottles of Barielle before but this time I found Essie and Nicole by OPI. I spent a great deal of time rummaging through all the bottles and came out with this gem.
If you have read any of my posts or followed me on Twitter, by know that blue and purple are two of my favorite colors; so Nicole by OPI, It's Up To You was like hitting the jackpot. It is a gorgeous blue/purple duochrome. Granted the duo is stronger in the bottle, but there is a some duo when on the nails.
I don't own many Nicole by OPI shades but the formula, brush and color of It's Up To You, will have me looking at others.
What more can I say, it's blue and purple!!! It had to be mine. What is your "can't pass it up" color?

Coterie & butter LONDON Collaboration...Swatches
Monday, September 24, 2012
In the spirit of NY Fashion Week, and to celebrate the
launch of www.coterie.com several beauty bloggers were invited to preview Coterie's first campaign featuring
butter LONDON. In return, we received a selection from the butter LONDON Ready-to-Wear collection.
Next, is Pillar Box Red. This is just the perfect, true cream red. A classic, necessity for every polish collection.
And mattifed...it looks like velvet.
Lastly, I chose the iridescent, holographic, duochrome Knackered. With those adjectives, who could pass this one up, LOL! The butter LONDON website describes it as "A sheer, twinkling oyster shade flecked with micro glitter particles... duochrome." This is very sheer polish. As pictured this is 2 coats, so it would definitely take 4-5 coats to achieve an opaque application.
So these are 3 butter LONDON polishes I gladly added to my butter LONDON collection. Thanks to Coterie.
Did you get in on either of the Coterie/butter London specials? If so, what colors did you select?
We were able to select from the 6 Ready-to-Wear collection. 1, All Hail The Queen was already part of my collection, so I chose Bluey, which I had been wanting for ages, Pillar Box Red, and Knackered. Along with the 3 we selected, we also received a bottle of the butter LONDON Matte Finish Top Coat.
The first shade I jumped at was Bluey. As I mentioned previously, this had been a shade I had wanted for some time. It is described as "A slightly metallic, dark peacock blue". It is very sheer and required 3 coats to achieve this level of opacity. Nonetheless, it was well worth the wait. I love these peacock blues and
butter LONDON does not disappoint.
As we are heading into Autumn now, it is the perfect time for me to start sporting matted nails. And butter LONDON has provided me with their Matte Top Coat. Bluey mattified is gorgeous!
Next, is Pillar Box Red. This is just the perfect, true cream red. A classic, necessity for every polish collection.

And mattifed, I achieved an iridescent dove gray.
