China Glaze Metallic Red Comparisons

Last week, one of my favorite Bloggers did one of her gorgeous comparisons. All You Desire does excellent side-by-side comparisons.  It is her blog, that I often go to when wanting to see comparisons.  Recently, she answered the request of one of her followers to compare several China Glaze metallic reds-Long Kiss, Momma Kissing Santa, & Short & Sassy.  Whoever it was that made the request had also asked for a comparison to include China Glaze Thunderbird. Unfortunately All You Desire did not own Thunderbird.

Sometime during my first year of blogging, I remember sharing a similar comparison to someone on MakeupAlley.com. So I figured I would pull from my stash and do this comparison also but including Thunderbird and a couple others that are similar.  China Glaze must release a polish in this family at least once a year. And silly me, must buy each time.  While they are each in the same color family, none are true dupes. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! LOL!  They are each very pretty, it is just up to you to decide which one or ones...

Collections:  Each of these, can still be found online. Long Kiss is part of the permanent collection and can be found at Sally and Ulta.

Short & Sassy (Retro Diva Collection) is the darkest & deepest of the six.
Long Kiss (Permanent Collection) is very close to Thunderbird but has a bit more blue in the formula.
Thunderbird (Retro Diva Collection) has a lit from within glow.
Momma Kissing Santa (2010 Holiday Collection) is a traditional deep Christmas metallic red.
Stroll (Retro Diva Collection) contains red glass flakies. Kind of jelly-ish in its formula.
Riveter Rouge (Vintage Vixen) contains gold micro glitter.

The application of each was customary for the China Glaze formula. They applied smooth and with no streaking. To achieve bottle color, 2 coats were applied.

  • Bottle: 14 mL – 0.5 Fl oz.
  • Brush:  Standard narrow brush

Wash & Color Day - Hair Regimen & Products Used

I started fighting the graying battle in my early 20s and have been fighting that battle every since. My natural hair color was a medium brown, but most of my adult life I have wanted to change it to a auburn mahogany. One day I say a Garnier commercial and fell in love with the hair color of the model. So much so that I contacted Garnier to determine the color used.  It was 535-Medium Golden Mahogany Brown. I have used this product for the past 2 color treatments. Garnier Nutrisse is a permanent hair color but it contains 3 natural oils that I love, Avocado, Olive, & Grapeseed Oil. These oils are very beneficial for my hair, so with each use of this product, I am treating my hair with these oils, therefore in my opinion, there is less damage than other hair coloring products. After applying the hair coloring and allowing it to process, I shampoo with my holy grail Creme of Nature Ultra Moisturizing Shampoo.  I always follow up all chemical processes with a protein treatment to help strengthen my hair. This time I used one of my favorites, ApHogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor.  As with all protein treatments, I follow up with a moisturizing deep conditioner. Protein conditioner can be drying to the hair.  Again, my holy grail products are Roux Porosity Control (not a moisturizing conditioner, but great to treat porous hair) and Creme of Nature Moisture Extreme Conditioner.  After allowing the moisture conditioner sit for 30-45 minutes, I rinse and apply my leave-in conditioners.  Again, I use ApHogee products: Keratin & Green Tea Restructurizer & ProVitamin Leave-In Conditioner.
To style my hair, I use the following styling poducts: Creme of Nature Foaming Wrap Lotion, Lottabody Concentrate Setting Lotion.  When I'm doing a roller set and finishing with a finger comb I use One 'n Only Argan Oil Treatment, otherwise I use I spritz with Creme of Nature Argan Oil Gloss & Shine Spray.

NOTD: Sephora by OPI-I Only Shop Vintage

While on a recent trip to Sephora, I came across the latest Sephora by OPI collection. Bohemian Brights, it consists of both brights and neutrals. The one shade that caught my eye was I Only Shop Vintage.  It is a medium opaque metallic golden bronze.  It kinda of reminds me of a stronger yet lighter China Glaze Ingrid.

Have you tried any of the new polishes from the Bohemian Brights collection?

Lippies for the Latte' Ladies...(v.2)

Time for more Lippies for the Latte' Ladies...

The NYX Lip Glosses have been compared to MAC lip glasses by many and I thought I would share with you my collection.  I only have 11 so far, but because I love the application, colors, price, and finishes, I will be buying more...

They can be layered or stand on their own.  The colors range for clear to deep berries. The price averages around $5.00.  They can be found in Ulta, and many different local beauty supply stores.  There are also several online retailers that carry the NYX line.  If you have not tried NYX Lip Glosses, you are cheating yourself.

Grace, Peace, & Blessings.

Sinful Colors Castaway Collection-Greek History Lesson

Zeus
Recently Walgreens had the Sinful Colors line on sale for $0.99 and we were all out grabbing up all the good ones.  While I was making my purchase I noticed a new collection being put out, Castaway. As most of these polishes appear to be new, of course I had to add some of them to my transaction.  The name of the collection really doesn't make sense to me as most of the names of the polishes are Greek Mythology related; however they are Be Happy, Zeus, Neptune, Greek Isles, Grecian Sun, Athens, Pandora and Olympia.

From the collection I purchased, Zeus, which is a medium gray-blue with a pink iridescence. In this picture I applied 2 coats but could have used 3 to get a true bottle color.  Also, in Greek Mythology, Zeus was known as the "Father of Gods and men".

I also picked up, Olympia, a soft pale green.  Also, in Greek mythology is known for having been the site of the Olympic Games in classical times.

Lastly, I picked up Neptune. Another blue that I had to have.  It is a medium blue with silver glass micro-flakes.  As pictured, this is two coats.  And, in Greek Mythology, Neptune is also the god of water and the sea.

Do you get any of the Castaway polishes?  If so, which ones?
